UPVC Window Repair: The Idea And The Truth

Many homeowners are shocked when they find that their newly installed UPVC windows, only 2 years old, are malfunctioning and need repair. It may be any issue, it can even be a faulty locking system on the patio door or a broken hinge of a window. However, property owners assume, especially when purchasing UPVC windows that they are good for a long time to come and they need to maintenance or repairing for years to come.  While that is the ideal and best case scenario, the reality might often be radically different.

In reality, UPVC windows repair is not something new and to learn what type of work should be done on the windows, we asked some of the companies who provide UPVC window repairs London

The first thing they said was how many people think that UPVC is a material which need little or not maintenance in a window. However, it doesn't mean that the parts of the windows would not go bad or wouldn't need maintenance.

In fact, while the guarantee on the UPVC windows is often given for 10 years, there is a catch. The guarantee is on the UPVC fixed elements, such as the slider or the sill. But the guarantee on the moving parts, like the hinges and the handles would only be for one year or so. This proves that even the manufacturers are aware of the problems which might occur, especially with the moving parts of the window. In fact, the same principle can be applied on the doors as well, especially if they are frequently used.

There is another acute problem which the property owners might face. When they try to get back to the supplier or the installer or even the manufacturer of the window, for a specific part of the window or the door or to get something fixed, that company or agency might be out of business. It is a difficult industry to survive in, like on expert explained to us, and fatalities happen every other day. So, even if the part is guaranteed, if the company itself is not operating anymore, the buyer would be out of luck. As the guarantees are for long terms, there is a great chance of the company going out of business. One safeguard might be to buy from a company who has survived the market for a long time.
