- Don't apply oil or lubricants on hinges or any nylon based moving parts. Use specialised furniture aerosol wax spray as that contains silicone.
- Once
a year clean the metal hinges and moving parts like door locks and use
light oil on them.
- Don't
add washing agents in the water to clean your window. These agents degrade
the seals.
- You
can use cream cleanser in warm water and use that to clean the windows. Do
not use any abrasive on the woodgrain or the white PVC-U.
- If
it is a patio door, keep the door track clean of mud and dirt. However, do
not use lubricants on the track.
- Ensure
that at least one window in each room has the key to unlock the window
during any emergency.
However, nothing lasts forever and you might need a double glazing repair in London after a few years of use. Mostly the metal moving parts like the lock and hinges, handles fail over the years. The only thing which can stop you from repairing them is your own notion that they can't be repaired.
